Case study 02 • Connected heavy equipment
Fleet-Scale Machine Control
Led machine-control and survey integration across a major pipeline program, connecting GNSS, digital terrain models, cameras, sensors, and non-standard equipment configurations.

Challenge
The system problem
Keep survey, engineering, digital models, and 45 concurrently operating machines aligned across roughly 200 kilometres of active construction without letting field knowledge fragment into silos.
Approach
Integration work
- Led up to 20 surveyors and machine-control support for 30 excavators and 15 dozers.
- Worked with Komatsu, Topcon, Trimble, and dealer engineering teams on custom configurations.
- Developed integrations for excavators, ditching wheels, and other non-standard attachments.
- Used Wingtra drone surveys to capture about five kilometres of right-of-way per day and continuously update the 3D model.
Outcome
What changed
Created a coherent field technology workflow that maintained production continuity, reduced repeated work, and made current survey and engineering information usable at the machine.
